In a glowing review from Looper, “The Long Walk” is hailed as “the best Stephen King adaptation in years.” This dystopian thriller has been lauded for featuring one of the standout performances of 2025, courtesy of David Jonsson. Despite being relatively new to the film industry, Jonsson impresses with a depth of talent that belies his early career stage. He portrays a participant in a grueling annual event where contestants must maintain a pace above three miles per hour without faltering. The ultimate prize for the last one standing is immense wealth and a fulfilled wish, while those who fall short face dire consequences, including death from various hardships like hunger and exhaustion.

Although “The Long Walk” didn’t achieve blockbuster status, it’s swiftly transitioning to home entertainment, becoming available for digital rent and purchase just under two months after its theatrical debut. The film is set to launch on digital platforms by the end of October, with physical copies following in November. For those who prefer the cinema experience or simply can’t wait, the movie is still screening in theaters at the time of this writing.

Joining Jonsson in the cast are Cooper Hoffman, Mark Hamill, Judy Greer, and Garrett Wareing. “The Long Walk” will be accessible for digital rental and purchase from October 21 on platforms like Amazon, Apple TV, Fandango, and YouTube. Rentals provide a 48-hour viewing window, while digital purchases grant unlimited access on the buying platform. Physical copies, available on DVD and Blu-ray, will hit the shelves starting November 25.

Further appealing to collectors, Amazon will exclusively offer a 4K UHD steelbook edition from November 25, including a Blu-ray and a digital download code. For a wider release, a non-steelbook 4K UHD/Blu-ray/digital combo will be available starting December 23 across various retailers. These multiple viewing options ensure fans can enjoy “The Long Walk” in various formats, with initial releases in time for holiday gifting to any Stephen King enthusiast.

The Long Walk comes to digital on October 21

Also starring Cooper Hoffman, Mark Hamill, Judy Greer, and Garrett Wareing, “The Long Walk” will be made available for both rental and purchase via digital marketplaces like Amazon, Apple TV, Fandango, YouTube, and others on October 21. Rentals will be for a 48-hour period, while those that purchase the movie digitally will be able to watch it indefinitely on the platform through which it was purchased. Those who want a physical copy of “The Long Walk” for their shelves will be able to buy it on DVD and Blu-ray beginning on November 25.

Also starting on November 25, Amazon will exclusively offer a 4K UHD steelbook edition of “The Long Walk,” which will also contain a Blu-ray version as well as a code for a digital copy of the film. Otherwise, December 23 will be the start date for a non-steelbook 4K UHD/Blu-ray/digital combo release at all retailers. All this adds up to plenty of options to watch the movie at home, with the soonest of them hitting about a week after this article is published and the rest available in time to be stocking stuffers for the Stephen King movie lover in your life.
