Russian Roulette is a dangerous game of chance – it involves placing a bullet in a gun, spinning the cylinder then placing the muzzle to your head and pulling the trigger.

The Brit got lucky on his first turn as the barrel was empty, his friend claimed.

He is said to have chanced it again but this time the gun fired and he was struck in the head by a bullet.

The Brit’s pal said he heard a gunshot and immediately called an ambulance.

Medics arrived to find the man lying on the floor of his hotel room with blood gushing from his head.

The man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Cops were later called to the horrifying scene.

Officers found evidence of cannabis, a laughing gas cylinder and used balloons, as well as the revolver and a single bullet casing, police said.

Police Captain Pansan Klongsit of the Pattaya City Police Station said: “We have coordinated with Chonburi forensic police to collect evidence from both the room and the man’s roommate, including gunshot residue.

“The roommate was brought in for thorough questioning to investigate how the British man came to possess the firearm involved in the incident.”

The Brit’s roommate claimed the man had suffered what he described as a “mental breakdown” after getting high on a cocktail of drugs.

He said:  “[He] invited me to play Russian roulette but I declined and went to bed because I was scared I would hurt myself.

“While I was in bed, I first heard the trigger being pulled without firing. However, he tried again, and this time, a loud bang followed.

“I came out of my room and found him in a pool of blood.

“I screamed his name and ran to call for help from the security guard.”

The cops are reportedly waiting for the man to regain consciousness to find out exactly what happened.

A spokesperson for the Foreign Office told The Sun: “We are supporting a British man who has been hospitalised in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities.”

Pattaya is one of Thailand’s most notorious party spots and tourists are regularly arrested for misbehaving while high on drugs.

A 55-year-old woman was arrested back in December following an alleged “drugs-fuelled” disturbance.

The woman was apprehended at a hotel in Pattaya after “buying a jar of weed”.
