AS Donald and Melania Trump mark their 20th wedding anniversary, a look back at the illustrious guest list reveals a fascinating insight into how their allegiances have shifted in the past two decades.

Future president Trump and Slovenian-born model Melania Knauss tied the knot at Mar-a-Lago in Florida in a lavish ceremony on January 22, 2005.

It was Trump’s third wedding and Melania’s first, and the two had a 24-year age gap.

Some of the creme-de-la-creme of American society made up the 350-person guest list.

Stars included Bill and Hillary Clinton, whom he would go on to defeat in the 2016 presidential election.

Far from her future nickname of “Crooked Hillary,” the two couples were seen cozying up for a photograph outside the Florida resort.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, then the Republican Governor of California, was also in attendance.

The action star backed Trump’s opponent, Kamala Harris, in November’s presidential election and has disagreed with the 47th president on several key issues, including climate change and the economy.

Trump has already announced he is pulling the United States out of the Paris Climate Treaty within hours of reentering the White House.

A deeper look at the Melania-Donald wedding reveals a number of political figures who would go on to fall out with Trump.

Chris Christie, the future governor of New Jersey who also stood to be the Republican presidential candidate in 2016, was in attendance at the lavish ceremony.

Christie was the US Attorney for the Garden State at the time.

During his first term, he would go on to be one of the fiercest Republican critics of Trump.

Trump responded with typical maturity last month, sharing a crude meme mocking the former governor’s weight.

As New Jersey was hit by a series of mystery drone sightings, Trump, 78, shared a mocked-up image of Christie on his official Instagram account.

The image showed Christie tucking into McDonald’s burgers, while in the background, a series of drones were seen bringing him more meals.

Also in attendance at the ceremony were figures from the worlds of sports, culture, and the news media.

Former New York Yankee star Derek Jeter was in attendance, as was Shaquille O’Neal.

Billy Joel performed at the wedding, while the late crooner Tony Bennett was also a fixture in West Palm Beach.

Russell Simmons, the founder of the iconic hip-hop label Def Jam also came along, sipping champagne in celebration of the day.

Also there were figures from the world of fashion – appropriate given Melania’s profession – including supermodel Heidi Klum and Vogue Magazine’s Anna Wintour.

Major news journalists including Matt Lauer, Katie Couric, and Chris Matthews also made up the star-studded lineup.

Trump gifted Melania a $1.5 million ring, which cost more than the entire ceremony.
