Several people have been injured though the exact number has not been confirmed.

The Alexander City Outlook reported that at least five suffered injuries.

The explosion reportedly took place after a number of fireworks had already been launched.

Several minutes into the firework display, one of the charges exploded low to the boat near the launch pad, according to The Outlook.

This reportedly caused the barge to burn for a number of minutes.

At least three medical helicopters were dispatched to the scene with emergency services from multiple counties also in attendance, per local news outlets.

No fatalities have been reported, the Tallapoosa County Coroner told AL.com.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office for an update.
