President Trump is sitting down with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for talks on trade, Gaza and Ukraine on Thursday, the second-day of his state visit to the U.K.

After a royal greeting complete with a review of troops and glittering Windsor Castle banquet celebrating Trump and first lady Melania Trump, as well as the relationship between the two countries, the president traveled to Chequers, the country estate of the prime minister.

Meanwhile, Melania Trump tour parts of Windsor Castle with Queen Camilla, then she’ll join Kate, princess of Wales, for a nature program at Frogmore Gardens along with Scouts. It is their first joint outing.

Across the pond, the House is poised to vote on a bill that would avert a government shutdown on Oct. 1, possibly on Friday, after a procedural vote passed the House on party lines on Wednesday evening. Democrats have vowed to vote it down, saying a shutdown would “send a message,” because it doesn’t address cuts to the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid. The bill on Wednesday night survived a procedural vote on party lines.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee called District of Columbia officials to testify at a hearing Thursday morning on oversight of the city. It comes just over a month after the Trump administration federalized police and deployed the National Guard to decrease city crime.
