Megyn Kelly brutally took down a young liberal student after they tried to blame Charlie Kirk ‘s murder on ‘rhetoric’ from Donald Trump. The former Fox News anchor berated the student at a Turning Point USA event on Wednesday, in a Q&A session emulating those that Kirk held before his assassination two weeks ago .

As Kelly hosted the event at Virginia Tech University, she faced a question from a student who cited Trump’s controversial remarks at Kirk’s memorial service about ‘hating’ his opponents. ‘Why do you support a president who contributes to the rhetoric that got your friend Charlie Kirk killed?’ the student asked.

‘We saw his rally recently, he said, “I hate my enemies”.’ Kelly quickly fired back at the question as she responded: ‘This is how we got here.’ ‘That is a blatant lie, it’s a defamatory blaspheme and it’s inappropriate in this setting,’ she said.

The moment circulated on social media as the student tried to walk back his remarks, fumbling over his words as he insisted ‘that’s not what I said.’ The young liberal argued that Trump ‘contributed to the political atmosphere’ that led to Kirk’s murder, to which Kelly snapped back: ‘Well, then you have no point.’

‘Your point is utterly empty,’ she continued. ‘Contributing to the atmosphere? Let’s just make clear. This guy was motivated by LEFTIST IDEOLOGY. We know it from the bullet casings, we know it from the Utah governor, from his own mother.’

The hostile back-and-forth led some in the crowd to then begin jeering and heckling the student. ‘Let’s say this guy is a leftist, even if that’s true, does that make it okay for the sitting president of the United States to incite violence against liberals?’ he responded.

Kelly then hit back, defending Trump’s remarks at Kirk’s funeral and saying he was right to target his political enemies on the left after he was indicted several times and almost assassinated last year. ‘The president of the United States has not incited violence against liberals,’ she said.

‘The president of the United States made a joke at the Charlie Kirk Memorial…and by the way, Trump has every right to loathe his enemies. ‘They tried to put him in jail for the rest of his life! Tried to bankrupt him. Tried to put his family in jail. And they tried to kill him.’

Kelly’s smackdown led the young student to stumble over his response before being drowned out by the conservative crowd, to which she told the audience to calm down and said she welcomed the debate. ‘It’s good to have some folks come up and disagree,’ she said.
