A LUCKY bride-to-be can score the deal of a lifetime on Melania Trump’s wedding dress, which is being auction off for a fraction of what she paid for it.
Melania’s stunning gown from her 2005 wedding to President Donald Trump has been put up for auction on eBay.
The $100,000 couture Christian Dior dress is listed for just $45,000 or best offer, substack writer Liana Satenstein reported.
“Christian Dior’s wedding dress was specifically designed by John Galliano for Melania Trump’s wedding in 2005 to Donald Trump. United States PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP!” the eBay description for the listing read.
The auctioneer told Satenstein’s friend she purchased the dress from Melania in 2011 for $70,000 so she could wear it at her own wedding.
A friend-of-a-friend connected Melania and the seller so the purchase could happen.
Since then, the woman says the dress has been stored inside a box in her closet.
According to the seller, she only made slight changes to the dress, such as adding “a new layer of satin on the bottom, embroidery pieces on the top, and more fabric on the back of the dress” and straps.
Looking at close-up photographs of the gown, potential buyers will notice the careful attention to detail that Dior designers paid when creating it.
From the elegant silver embroidery in the center to the pleated bottom, the dress looks fit for royalty.
Melania memorably modeled the dress designed by John Galliano on the cover of Vogue in February 2005.
She is pictured wearing her lavish 16-foot veil as she places her hand on her hip and poses in the dress.
The cover read: “Donald Trump’s new bride. The ring, the dress, the wedding, the jet, the party.”
Vogue reported that the dress took 550 hours to complete and is made of 90 meters of satin.
The 60-pound gown is adorned with 1,500 Swarovski crystals, Page Six reported.
Melania, whose maiden name is Knauss, met with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour in 2005 to get fitted for her ornate dress.
Photos from the fitting show three Dior designers carefully inspecting Melania’s strapless dress.
Melania’s dress was just one of the most memorable things about the January 2005 wedding.
