RFK Jr., 71, stood firm during his first confirmation hearing Wednesday as lawmakers quizzed him for three hours on Medicare, vaccines, and the American diet.

He started the hearing by thanking his family before ardently defending against accusations that he’s anti-vaccine.

At one point, when he was asked point blank if he was anti-vaccine, he responded, “I am pro-safety.”

After making this remark, a protester dressed in scrubs stood up in the crowd to scream, “He lies,” before they were escorted out of the hearing.

Several lawmakers, including Senator Michael Bennet, a Democrat from Colorado, claimed that RFK Jr’s views on health and wellness spread fear throughout the country.

Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse, a senator of Rhode Island, forced RFK Jr to promise to “never say vaccines aren’t medically safe.”
