This crash claimed the lives of three individuals and has revealed that Singh had failed his commercial driver’s license (CDL) test a staggering ten times within a two-month span in Washington State in 2023.

According to details shared by the Florida Department of Highway Safety in August, Singh managed to secure CDLs in both Washington and California after illegally crossing the border from Mexico in 2018. This occurred despite his inability to demonstrate proficiency in English, a requirement for CDL holders.

In a related incident, following a deadly crash in Southern California this week that resulted in three fatalities and two hospitalizations, it was disclosed that the driver, Jashanpreet Singh, also an undocumented immigrant, had been granted a CDL by the state of California. Governor Gavin Newsom’s office confirmed this, noting that Jashanpreet Singh had been “caught and released” after illegally entering California in 2022.

Relatedly, after the fatal crash this week in SoCal that killed three, hospitalized two more, and which involved another illegal immigrant truck driver, California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office acknowledged the state had also issued the driver, Jashanpreet Singh, a CDL. Jashanpreet Singh reportedly was “caught and released” after illegally crossing the border into the Golden State in 2022.
