Senate Democrat Urges Trump to Dismiss Controversial Nominee Over Alleged Nazi Ties

Senator Andy Kim (D-N.J.) is urging President Trump to dismiss Paul Ingrassia, who recently stepped back from his nomination to lead the Office of Special Counsel.

“A reminder that Mr. ‘Nazi streak’ is still employed by the White House,” Kim expressed on the social media platform X, sharing a screenshot of Ingrassia’s X profile. “It’s insufficient for him to simply withdraw his nomination. Ingrassia should be entirely removed from his position at the White House and from government service.”

According to the biography section of Ingrassia’s account, he currently serves as a White House liaison for the Department of Homeland Security.

Ingrassia opted to withdraw his nomination on Tuesday following reports that he had referred to having a “Nazi streak” alongside other racist remarks in a private text message conversation.

“I will not be participating in the [Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee] hearing scheduled for Thursday to lead the Office of Special Counsel, as I currently lack sufficient Republican support,” Ingrassia announced on Truth Social.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) on Monday told reporters that he thought the White House would reconsider Ingrassia’s nomination.

“He’s not going to pass,” Thune said.

Politico first reported Ingrassia’s comments on Monday in which he reportedly pushed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day to end and said you can “never trust a chinaman or Indian” in a text thread.

“I do have a Nazi streak in me from time to time, I will admit it,” Ingrassia reportedly replied when others in the group chat challenged him.

The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment.
