It’s bemusing, at times, to reflect on the fact that some of the virile, manly, robust heroes of our youth are growing old. Case in point: On Thursday, we learned that that icon of American screens large and small, William Shatner, was rushed to the hospital after undergoing a medical emergency. Relax: The Captain will be fine.

Beloved Hollywood icon William Shatner was rushed to the hospital after he experienced a medical emergency on Wednesday afternoon.

Shatner, 94, had an issue with his blood sugar while at his Los Angeles home and was hospitalized, TMZ reported.

The actor, best known for his role as Captain James T. Kirk on “Star Trek,” was the one to make the call to emergency medical service workers after realizing something was wrong.

An LAFD ambulance was sent to his home as a precaution, the outlet reported.

Shatner was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, where he was doing “good” and “resting comfortably.”

The Captain has already engaged his X account at Warp Factor Eight to reassure fans that he was OK.

That’s a relief. Too much Romulan ale, Captain Kirk?

Of course, it would take more than a blood sugar imbalance to take down Captain James Tiberius Kirk – excuse me, William Shatner. He’s already beaten cancer, having suffered a bout of Stage IV melanoma, which he stared down and drop-kicked out of his body. It’s no surprise he beat this latest emergency, even at 94 years of age. After all, the Klingon language had no word for “defeat” until they encountered Captain Kirk.
