EPIC stands for East Plano Islamic Center.

Lone Star State Gov. Greg Abbott said it’s not happening, at least not for the time being:

Here is the entire text of his post:

Texas has halted any construction of EPIC City.

There is no construction taking place.

The state of Texas has launched about a half dozen investigations into this project. That includes criminal investigations.

And, the US Department of justice is also investigating.

This matter, and similar matters, are taken very seriously, and actions are being taken to address all concerns.

Well that certainly seems pretty clear, doesn’t it?

Meanwhile, as Abbott mentioned, the U.S. Department of Justice is also looking into the matter after a powerful GOP senator expressed concerns:

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has opened an investigation into the East Plano Islamic Center’s (EPIC) proposed community, EPIC City, in Josephine, Texas, following concerns expressed by U.S. Sen. John Cornyn.

“I am grateful to Attorney General Bondi and the Department of Justice for hearing my concerns and opening an investigation into the proposed EPIC City development in North Texas,” said Cornyn in a statement. “Religious discrimination and Sharia Law have no place in the Lone Star State. Any violations of federal law must be swiftly prosecuted, and I know under the Trump administration, they will be.”
