A BOEING 737 was forced to make an emergency landing after the jet’s tyre exploded.
A Norwegian flight had just taken off from Stockholm’s Arlanda airport, bound for Paris, when a loud bang was heard.
The plane – carrying 181 passengers – experienced a “technical problem” in the morning, a Norwegian press officer said.
The pilot of flight D82046 was forced to circle the airport before making an emergency landing back at the Swedish capital.
According to an official at the control centre, a “tire explosion” occurred during takeoff, as reported by Swedish outlet Expressen.
Maya Carenco told the outlet: “When [the plane] started, it shook a great deal. It shook and vibrated a lot.”
“My legs are still vibrating. When we were in the air I did not know what happened but now that we [do know], I’m a bit shocked,” she said.
The Norwegian press officer told Expressen: “I can understand that it might feel unsettling, but the landing was carried out without drama.”
Police and paramedics rushed to the runway, where debris from the explosion was reportedly found.
It comes as Boeing has faced scrutiny over safety concerns surrounding its aircraft.
On June 12, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operated by Air India crashed in Ahmedabad, tragically killing all 12 crew members and 229 of the 230 passengers aboard.
