Mikaela Shiffrin posted the fastest time over two runs at women’s World Cup slalom on Saturday, securing her 85th career victory and moving within one of the all-time record set by Swedish great Ingemar Stenmark in the 1980s.
The American star had shared the women’s record of 82 wins with former teammate Lindsey Vonn before triumphing at back-to-back giant slaloms in Italy this week.

On Saturday, the American was 0.60 seconds faster than Lena Dürr of Germany. Switzerland’s Wendy Holdener finished 1.31sec behind in third at Spindleruv Mlyn, Czech Republic.
The 27-year-old star has won nine of her last 14 races and 11 of 22 on the season overall.
