Atletico Madrid may have signed Nico Gonzalez from Juventus on transfer deadline day, but the Argentine winger wasn’t the only new arrival at the club.

The same day Atleti and Nike unveiled their new third kit for the 2025/26 season – a striking design that fuses nostalgia with a modern twist.

The shirt takes inspiration from Nike’s iconic Total 90 designs of the early 2000s, reimagined through a contemporary lens. Finished in bright blue – a colour often reserved for Atleti’s away and third kits – the jersey is trimmed with the club’s signature red and white, giving the retro template a fresh edge.

In keeping with other recent Total 90 re-releases, the Swoosh and club crest sit boldly in the centre of the shirt, a feature last seen on an Atletico kit back in 2005/06. The men’s version carries Riyadh Air as the primary sponsor, while the women’s shirt features Herbalife, both in crisp white lettering across the middle.

Atleti are renowned for their grit and defensive steel, but this kit nods to a different side of the game – the early-2000s street football era, when flair and skill were just as celebrated as toughness.

And with Gonzalez set to debut in the shirt, perhaps it marks the beginning of a new chapter at the Metropolitano: one as stylish as it is successful.
