Chelsea have been told there is a simple solution to solving their N’Golo Kante problem – sign Declan Rice.
That’s the view of former Liverpool midfielder, and talkSPORT pundit, Danny Murphy who believes the Blues should do whatever it takes to land the West Ham captain.
Kante is in the final year of his contract and continues to struggle with injuries. The latest setback has ruled him out of the World Cup.
As it stands, the France international will be leaving Stamford Bridge on a free transfer next summer.
Murphy believes Rice is the obvious option to replace him. He has so far declined to sign an extension at the Hammers and will have one year left on his deal next summer.
The club has previously insisted it would cost north of £100million to sign the England international, who was released by Chelsea as a youngster.
“There’s a simple solution for Chelsea moving forward, looking to the future, which is you’ve got one of the best holding players in Declan Rice,” Murphy told White and Jordan on talkSPORT.

“He loves Chelsea. He’s the one to take his role, he’s capable and would be there for the rest of his career.
“They’ll have to bite the bullet and pay whatever it is. That’s the solution to replace Kante.”
Murphy also argued that all signs point to Kante leaving on a free transfer, otherwise an extension would already be wrapped up.
He added: “I imagine if he’d be staying then it’d be done. I very rarely see a player get to the last year of his contract.
“The lad at Villa [Douglas] Luiz did it and just signed a new one.
“Players of Kante’s ilk, he might want to go home, whatever. He might have another option.
“You know how good he is. It would be done if he was saying.”
