Jorge Mendes has won a record 10th Best Agent honour at the Globe Soccer Award in Dubai while massive uncertainty continues to surround his top client Cristiano Ronaldo.

Although he will undoubtedly be tremendously proud to have picked up another award, it comes at a time in which his attention is surely fixated on the prospects of Ronaldo, who seems to have burned his final bridges at Manchester United.

The Portuguese star gave an outlandish interview to Piers Morgan, in which he criticised Erik ten Hag, the lack of advancement at United, as well as many figures at the club, both past and present.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes picked up a Best Agent award despite failing to secure a move away from Manchester United for his client

Mendes was also the winner of Agent of the Century in 2020 – but that is hardly surprising given that he was one of the minds behind the Globe Soccer Awards’ foundation.

The awards have largely been won by his agency Gestifute’s top clients, including Ronaldo, Radamel Falcao, Jose Mourinho and Joao Felix.

Ronaldo himself has won the award for Best Men’s player a record 12 times, but lost out this year to former team-mate and current Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema.

Despite being a player who has spent much of his career probably able to walk into any team he desired, Ronaldo has had increasing need of his agent’s services since his prodigal return to United.

Mendes has now won the award 10 times

Over the summer he was tasked with the unenviable task of finding a club for Ronaldo that was both able to pay his huge wages – believed to be more than £500-a-week – and also qualify for the Champions League.

Yet no club was willing to offer themselves as an escape route from the club apart from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal, who were willing to offer him a £305million deal.

And after a failure on that front, Mendes is surely about to renew that venture after Ronaldo appears to have adopted a ‘scorched-earth’ policy in his recent interview, which has left fans and pundits insistent that he will never play for United again.

He has been linked with both Bayern Munich and Inter Miami in the aftermath of his outrageous tell-all talk with Morgan, and Sportsmail reported that he and Mendes met with the Bavarian giants earlier in November.

The 37-year-old also joked that he and long-time rival Lionel Messi could shift a huge number of shirts if they ended up at David Beckham’s MLS outfit, with both being linked with the American side.

Mendes’ services will surely be required soon with the pair (pictured in 2019) already having met with Bayern Munich as per Sportsmail reports

Mendes was joined in being honoured in Dubai by many of the sport’s biggest names, as Karim Benzema and Alexia Putellas added Best Men’s and Best Women’s Player awards to their recent Ballon d’Or victories.

Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid were named as the Best Coach and Best Club after the Italian guided Los Blancos to a record extending 14th Champions League victory, as well as sealing another LaLiga title.

And former Real skipper Sergio Ramos was named the Best Defender of All-Time, as Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were given awards for Best Career – despite the Swedish striker still playing for AC Milan.

Beaten by Benzema to the main prize, Mohamed Salah was still awarded the Fans’ Player of the Year, based on votes from viewers on the night.
