Dele Alli has been criticised by Besiktas club president Ahmet Nur Cebi after his disastrous loan spell in Turkey came to an end.

Alli joined the club on loan from Everton last summer with the hope of reviving his career, but more failure has followed with the former England man netting three times in just 15 games.

He now faces an uncertain future and will return to Everton before his next move is mapped out, but he will certainly not be returning to Besiktas after being slammed by Cebi.

Speaking to BeIN Sports, Cebi blasted Alli’s actions off the pitch after the 27-year-old was pictured surrounded by laughing gas cannisters, claiming his club didn’t get what they were expecting when they agreed to the deal.

He went in on Alli as a player and as a person, clearly happy to see the back of the midfielder following the season’s conclusion.

‘He was a player we were very excited about when he came, Cebi said. ‘He won’t come back. We didn’t get what we expected from him. I hope he recovers as a human.’

Alli appears to have endured off-the-field issues in recent years and his decline since playing for Tottenham in a Champions League final and England in a World Cup semi-final have been remarkable.

He still has one year remaining on his Everton deal, which costs the Toffees £100,000 a week and cost a fee that could rise to £40million.

He’ll return to Goodison Park under a new manager, with it possible Sean Dyche will give Alli a fresh slate to prove himself.

He recently hinted that the 27-year-old needed to improve his attitude to be successful in football, however.

‘Some of the stuff that’s been said and reported… he’s 27 and like other players knows certain things and what they should or shouldn’t be doing,’ Dyche said. ‘Forget about Everton for a minute, as a manager you can’t control everything they do in their lives.

‘You can only guide people with what you think is good for them and eventually they have choices. We recommend they make good choices.’
