‘I’m serious’ – Tottenham can win Premier League title if they sign Chelsea outcast Hakim Ziyech, claims former Spurs star Rafael van der Vaart

Former Tottenham star Rafael Van der Vaart insists Spurs can ‘win the Premier League’ if they sign Hakim Ziyech.

The Moroccan winger is currently a Chelsea player but faces a continued struggle to be considered a key man for the west London club.

Since arriving at the club in 2020, the 29-year-old has made 90 appearances for the Blues, scoring 14 goals and getting 10 assists.

However finding a spot in the starting XI has been a little bit more tricky, with Ziyech starting just once so far this term.

A move from Chelsea to Tottenham is never a popular move to make, but according to ex-Spurs man Van der Vaart, it could be the perfect opportunity to kickstart his career and help his old side end their wait for a trophy.

Speaking to Ziggo Sport, Van der Vaart said: “Hakim Ziyech has to join Tottenham.

“If Tottenham get Hakim Ziyech, they could win the Premier League. I am serious.”

Dutch football legend Marco van Basten then added: “There is another transfer window coming up.

“It is sad and a shame. Ziyech is a great player. We have to see someone like that, we watch TV for such a player and we come to the stadium.

“It is a pity for the whole of football that he is on the bench. If these kinds of players do not get minutes, it is not good for football.

“There should actually be a rule that clubs can only have a certain number of players.

“So they [Chelsea] have way too many and that actually makes football less interesting. A player like Ziyech could just play at another club and entertain the fans.”

While things haven’t gone to plan with Chelsea, Ziyech was a sensation with Ajax, scoring 49 goals and providing 81 assists in 165 appearances for the club as he established himself as one of the most exciting players on the continent.

Should he move on, the winger will no doubt be hoping to reclaim that reputation and start enjoying his football once again.
