John Fury says Tyson Fury’s Battle of Britain clash with Anthony Joshua will not take place until next year as a defeat to the Gypsy King would be ‘financial suicide’ for AJ and his team.
Negotiations over the proposed bout have been ongoing for the past month, with both sides claiming confirmation of the clash was being held up by the other’s camp.
However, John has said that Tyson and his team have been ‘dogging AJ like you wouldn’t believe for the fight’ and that they would ‘take the bout tomorrow’.
As a result, he believes Eddie Hearn and Matchroom boxing are trying to protect their ‘Golden Boy’ as another loss would ruin his career and their team’s brand.
John Fury says he doesn’t think Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua will take place until next year
When asked whether the contract for the Battle of Britain clash would be signed in the coming days, John said in an exclusive interview with Sportsmail, via Freebets.com: ‘I doubt it will.
‘It’s not going to happen this year I don’t think. No, it’s very doubtful. We’d have it tomorrow. We’ve been dogging AJ and his team like you won’t believe for this fight, you know. You just don’t want it. They just don’t want it.’
John went on to say that AJ was ducking the fight because he was scared about facing Fury. He said: ‘I think Joshua’s sort of like getting doubts about fighting the Gypsy King.
‘You know they’ve had that contract now, for well over a month. Nothing’s happened. But what they want, you see, is a to and fro for next two years or twelve months.

John has said a defeat to the Gypsy King would be ‘financial suicide’ for AJ and his team
‘Twelve months or two years back and forth, like they did with Deontay Wilder. We don’t want that. Tyson’s capped it off and put a deadline on it as he wants it signed up.
‘He wants to get in camp, and then get it under way. Get the fight on and give the fans what they want. We aren’t interested in back and fros.’
John believes Joshua’s team are stalling as they are trying to protect themselves and their star boxer. He said a defeat against Fury would be ‘financial suicide’ for their brand.
John told Sportsmail: ‘I can understand why [they are stalling on the contracts]. He their Golden Boy. A defeat to Tyson Fury, financially… it would financial suicide for them wouldn’t it. That’s why they don’t want it.’
John was adamant he would like to see the fight go ahead, but insisted he would understand if Joshua didn’t want to take the bout after suffering successive defeats to Usyk
John was adamant he would like to see the fight go ahead, but insisted he would understand if Joshua didn’t want to take the bout after suffering successive defeats to Usyk.
He told Sportsmail: ‘You know what. If he came up with a viable explanation saying that you know what I’m not ready for it, I just come off a defeat and want some time out to spend some time out with the family. We’d understand that if he just says the truth – which is the truth.
‘He said somewhere else he’s just come off a bad defeat. He’ll be a bit depressed over that, you know, and we can understand that. Why, don’t he just say that.’

Tyson’s father said: We’re looking at other people. Look at Andy Ruiz, Luis Ortiz and Filip Hrgovic, or whoever wants to fight. It’s a good business.’
