Some Liverpool fans have encountered difficulty getting into Wembley ahead of the Carabao Cup final because of ticketing issues.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are taking on Chelsea in a 3pm kick-off at the national stadium in London.

But there are multiple reports of digital tickets not working at the turnstiles, meaning supporters are having to queue up to get paper ones printed off.

Mail Sport’s Merseyside correspondent Lewis Steele tweeted: ‘Lots of reports of digital tickets not working outside Wembley with fans having to queue up to get paper ones printed.

‘Could be quite a few not in by kick-off.’

The match was brought forward by 90 minutes from the usual 4.30pm kick-off time following a request by the Metropolitan Police.

Over 85,000 fans are expected inside Wembley for the showpiece final.

A tweet from the LFC Help account said: ‘If your ticket is showing a barcode, please remove from the wallet and re download from the original email. The ticket should then show a QR code which will allow entry into the turnstile.’

It only added to the disruption for some Liverpool fans after Avanti West Coast trains reported ‘infrastructure damage’ on the line between Liverpool Lime Street and London Euston.

They said services wouldn’t be able to call at Runcorn and would be diverted between Liverpool and Crewe, with rail replacement coaches arranged for passengers between Crewe and Runcorn.

Liverpool will be hoping to claim the first part of a potential quadruple of Carabao Cup, Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League on Sunday.

Klopp’s side are one point clear of Manchester City at the summit of the Premier League and play Southampton at Anfield in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, is hoping to win his first trophy in English football and alleviate some of the pressure on himself amid an often-frustrating season at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool are without a number of key players for the final, with Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai adding to the absentees for Klopp.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones and Joel Matip are also out at present for the Reds.

It meant Klopp made two changes from the team that beat Luton Town 4-1 in midweek with Ibrahima Konate and Andrew Robertson brought in for Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah.
