Queens Park Rangers manager Michael Beale has categorically ruled out a return to Aston Villa, stating there’s ‘no chance’ of him taking the job down to his loyalty to Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard was given the boot this week following the 3-0 loss to Fulham, before his backroom team of Gary McAllister, Neil Critchley, Tom Culshaw, Jordan Milsom and Scott Mason all followed him out of the club.

Beale was assistant to the former England midfielder at Villa Park last season, before taking on his first managerial role at Loftus Road in the summer, where he has led QPR to the top of the Championship table.

His impressive start to life in west London saw Beale as a candidate for the Wolves vacancy last week, but he turned down any approach from the Premier League side to continue his work at QPR.

Beale has now been linked with the Aston Villa post, alongside names such as Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino, but the 42-year-old has again ruled out leaving Rangers, citing his loyalty to close friend Gerrard.

He told talkSPORT: ‘No chance. They’re a great club with great history and good people behind the scenes.

‘They’ve had two outstanding managers in the last two years and for whatever reason it hasn’t worked out so I think they may have to look at the way the club is run or the model – is the recruitment all in line?

‘There’s a lot of good people behind the scenes that have got a lot of despair at the moment.

‘I feel for the fans because it’s a wonderful football club, but no, I gave my commitment here the other day and there’s certainly no interest on my part with Aston Villa.

‘A few of my friends have obviously lost their job in the last few days and obviously my loyalty is to that friendship.’

QPR continue to lead the way in the Championship, after a 2-1 victory over Wigan on Saturday thanks to goals from Sam Field and Leon Balogun.

Aston Villa are in action on Sunday when they host Brentford at Villa Park, with first-team coach Aaron Danks in temporary charge of the first team.
