The LA Clippers will take on the Portland Trailblazers at the Climate Pledge Arena for an NBA preseason game on Monday. The Clippers had an underwhelming last season as they finished in ninth place on the Western Conference table with 42 wins and 40 losses. That can be attributed to the fact that their two big players, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George were out with injuries. Kawhi did not play a single game last season and his absence was felt profoundly.

Paul George had a mixed season as he had great performances but they were overshadowed by niggling injuries. Despite suffering a UCL tear in his elbow that made him miss four weeks of action after Christmas, George still came back and dropped good numbers. In his first game back from injury, he scored 34 points in a win over the Utah Jazz.

The Clippers will hope that the signing of point guard John Wall will turn them into title contenders this season. The one issue with that is the fitness of Wall as he has been injured since April 2021 and has not played a single game since.

The Portland Trailblazers on the other hand had a dismal last season as they finished in 13th place in the Western Conference having only won 27 games and losing 55. The mid-season trade of CJ McCollum to the New Orleans Pelicans may have had something to do with it but that should not be an excuse as they have enough fire power to power past teams. Damian Lillard will look to lead the team in the new season along with center Jusuf Nurkic who is coming back from a great showing in the EuroBasket tournament.

Injury Report

LA Clippers: Jason Preston, Moussa Diabate, Reggie Jackson, Paul George, John Wall, Ivica Zubac
