Paul Scholes has advised Manchester United to sign Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez over other big name targets.
The former Red Devils midfielder was speaking amid transfer speculation that Erik ten Hag will look to bolster his goalscoring options this summer.

The Dutchman has had much success in his first season at Old Trafford, ending a six-season trophy drought with glory in the Carabao Cup final.
Marcus Rashford has been a huge part of that upturn with 27 goals in all competitions, but a centre forward still looks like a priority for the next window after Wout Weghorst was signed in January as a stop-gap.
Two of the biggest names in the summer window look set to be Tottenham’s Harry Kane as he approaches the final year of his contract, and Victor Osimhen, who can’t stop scoring for Napoli.
Scholes isn’t sure about either of those options for United, though, as he explained on BT Sport.
“I don’t think Kane will move from Tottenham at this point,” he said. “I think it’s tricky business dealing with [Spurs chairman] Daniel Levy.
“He could string you along right to the very last minute of the transfer window and leave you with nothing.

“I think there are other players out there, like Osimhen. I haven’t seen loads of him, but I see him as more of a [Didier] Drogba type, possibly more of a Chelsea-type centre-forward.”
Discussing Osimhen’s poaching performance against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League, Scholes added: “Is he going to get those kind of crosses at United? That’s the thing.”
One potentially available player does stand out for Scholes, and that’s an Argentina World Cup winner.

“I like Lautaro Martinez at Inter Milan,” he said. “I think he’s Ten Hag’s type of player.
“He likes a centre-forward who will run about, be aggressive, get against people. There are options.
“I like Manchester United’s centre-forwards as they are. I like Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial. We all know the quality they’ve got. There are options out there and let’s hope we can bring one in.”
