Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has suffered a broken jaw during the violent robbery on his home, according to reports.
The Spanish press reported that four men ‘carrying firearms and iron bars’ broke into the Barcelona star’s home.
Aubameyang’s wife was also threatened before the men made off with several jewels and a white Audi.
The 33-year-old was assaulted in the robbery and The Athletic report that he suffered a broken jaw during a struggle with the intruders.
This is now expected to keep him out for a number of weeks, and the length of his absence will be determined by whether he will have surgery or not.
It is believed that surgery will be the quicker option, rather than to let it heal naturally.
This has potentially complicated matters relating to a potential move back to the Premier League.
Chelsea are in talks with Barcelona over signing the former Arsenal man before Thursday’s deadline.
Negotiations are continuing but there is yet to be an agreement either between the club or with the Blues and Aubameyang over personal terms.
It remains to be seen how this injury may now affect any potential deal, and may limit the amount of games he would be able to play before the break for the World Cup takes place.
Aubameyang joined the club from Arsenal in January and has scored 13 goals in 24 games.
