Umesh Yadav set to be part of India A squad for Bangladesh tour

Cheteshwar Pujara, who was chosen to India’s Test squad for the two-Test series in Bangladesh, may be included in the India A side that will travel the country prior to the full-fledged tour. Pujara, who is now a virtual specialist red ball batting for India, will participate in the two-match ‘A’ series preceding the senior series. He may even be asked to captain the A team, but that choice has yet to be made. Apart from Pujara, the selectors may include Umesh Yadav in the A team, which will depart for Bangladesh on November 20. Yadav is also a member of India’s 16-man Test squad, which was named on October 31 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

The rationale behind sending Pujara and Yadav early to Bangladesh is to give them some match-time before the series. The majority of the other players in the Test squad have played for other Indian teams at the international level. A similar approach has been filed for KS Bharat, the Test squad’s reserve wicketkeeper, but it has yet to be resolved. With BCCI officials and chief selector Chetan Sharma returning from Australia, the squad will be named within a day or two, most likely on Friday. Sarfaraz Khan, the best scorer in the last Ranji season, will be included in the squad, as previously stated by Cricbuzz. There could also be a case for Bengal top-order batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran.
