FLAT ROCK, Ala. (WHNT) — A Jackson County man was arrested for allegedly using a dead man’s identity to buy guns, ammunition and other items.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said on Oct. 2, investigators arrested a man for possession of a controlled substance (meth/fentanyl). Investigators later determined that the name given to them was that of another man who was dead.

The man was later identified as Stuart Sandrock. Investigators then determined that Sandrock had previously been convicted of soliciting to commit murder in San Diego in 1993.

A search warrant was executed at Sandrock’s house on County Road 81 in Flat Rock on Monday. During the search, investigators found 33 firearms, ammunition, thousands of rounds of ammunition and documents in the name of the dead man that Sandrock was trying to identify himself as.
