DENVER (KDVR) — In a reassuring turn of events, two children from Colorado were located safe and sound after their mother, lacking legal custody, allegedly took them without permission to Texas, triggering a statewide Amber Alert.

According to a press release from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched on Saturday following a report of parental abduction. The legal guardian of a 13-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl claimed that the children’s mother, Magali Mejia Sanchez, who is under restrictions regarding her contact with the minors, had taken them away.

Allegedly, Mejia Sanchez informed the children’s guardian of her intention to transport them to Mexico.
