LOS ANGELES — A man accused of being in the U.S. illegally and allegedly responsible for a fatal crash in California faced multiple charges in court on Friday, pleading not guilty.
Jashanpreet Singh, 21, from Yuba City, California, is charged with driving under the influence of drugs and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He was taken into custody following the incident.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which was captured in dramatic dashcam footage. The video shows a large truck colliding with stopped vehicles on the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 shortly after 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
