DENVER (KDVR) In a significant development, authorities announced on Wednesday that they have discovered the remains of Terri Ackerman in Lochbuie, marking the end of a seven-year search.
Ackerman, who was 56 at the time of her disappearance, was last seen in her Lochbuie home on August 24, 2018. Her husband reported her missing, stating that she was asleep in bed when he left for work at 5 a.m. Her personal belongings—including her cellphone, wallet, cigarettes, and car—remained untouched at their residence on 130 Poplar Street.
The Weld County Coroner’s Office was called to the 100 block of Poplar Street on September 10 following the discovery of human remains in the area.
The coroner’s office has yet to disclose the cause and manner of Ackerman’s death, as they are pending the results of a comprehensive autopsy report.
Earlier investigations revealed that Ackerman’s husband mentioned she was distressed the night before her disappearance, particularly worried about babysitting her grandchildren. The Lochbuie Police Department also noted that Ackerman had been dealing with mental health challenges and was on prescribed medication.
Police searched the area extensively at the time of her disappearance, assisted by drones and RAMPART Search and Rescue.
The case is still under investigation by the Lochbuie Police Department.
