The Yankees are anticipated to receive a bolster for their bullpen during the upcoming road journey. Closer Devin Williams is slated to come back from the paternity list on Friday in Pittsburgh, while right-hander Ian Hamilton is on track to return from an injured list absence triggered by a viral illness once they reach Detroit on Monday.

Williams’ return could come at the expense of Adam Ottavino, who is expected to be designated for assignment Friday, according to sources.

The veteran right-hander signed with the Yankees when Williams went on paternity leave and retired two of the three batters he faced in his second appearance with the team this time around.

But they need a roster spot for Williams, and the 39-year-old seems likely to go.
