Professional gamer Karel Asenbrener has been found dead at 19, after posting a tweet reading ‘Good night’ on Tuesday.
The esports star’s team, Vitality, broke the news on Wednesday, saying in a statement that they were ‘deeply saddened’ by the ‘devastating loss’, TMZ reported.
Asenbrener, who played the 5v5 character-based tactical shooter game Valorant, recently revealed he had spent time in a mental hospital for depression.
The Czech player told a press conference in February he was having a ‘rough time in personal life’ and that he had ‘been dealing with Depression for over two years now.’
The young star explained he had self-harmed over the Christmas holiday in Prague and had therefore entered a mental health institution.

The esport star posted a Tweet reading simply ‘Good night’ on Tuesday
‘After that I had a new fresh start and was able to thankfully get my sh*t together.
‘It was hardest time for me as a person and as a professional esport athlete.
Adding: ‘But after that time I knew why I’m playing games and what my team means to me.’
The young gamer also encouraged others to ask for help if they were struggling.
‘Take care of yourself and if you’re experiencing something like I did, don’t be scared to reach out to your close friends, to your family or your team’ he said.
In their statement posted to social media yesterday Team Vitality said: ‘We are heartbroken to share with you that our VALORANT player Karel ‘Twisten’ Ašenbrener passed away last night.
‘We are deeply saddened by this devastating loss, and our first thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in this difficult time.
‘The whole Team Vitality Organization is devastated by this news, and we will be stopping communications for the rest of the day.

One of the organization’s coaches, Harry ‘Gorilla’ Mepham, wrote in a tweet: ‘Words can not describe the grief or emptiness I’m feeling right now.
‘I loved him and forever will.’
