A significant explosion rocked a senior living apartment complex in Austintown, Ohio, on Saturday, resulting in multiple injuries.
The blast, which destroyed much of the Phoenix House apartment building, occurred shortly before 1 p.m., according to a report from Fox 8.
Austintown Fire Department Assistant Chief Tom O’Hara informed the media outlet that while several individuals sustained injuries, there were no immediate reports of fatalities.
Cindy Duke, a resident, described the explosion to FOX 8, saying it “felt like a bomb.”
Don Lampley, another resident who is a double amputee, recounted to the outlet that he was watching the Ohio State game with a friend when “there was a big, loud blast, then BOOM!”
The cause of the explosion has not yet been released.
The Austintown Township Police Department and Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital.
The Austintown Fire Department declined inquiries.
