FEMA temporarily closing Disaster Recovery Centers ahead of Nicole

FEMA will temporarily close all Disaster Recovery Centers in Florida, including the ones in Flagler and St. Johns counties, ahead of an approaching tropical system.

The centers were opened in the wake of Ian to help residents apply for federal assistance, learn about the types of assistance available, learn about the appeals process and get updates on applications.

The DRC in St. Johns County, located at the Wind Mitigation Building, 3111 Agricultural Center Drive, and the DRC in Flagler County at the Flagler County Fairgrounds will be closed from Wednesday, Nov. 9 through Friday, Nov. 11, in preparation for the storm.

The DRCs will be inspected on Saturday, Nov. 12, and reopen once it is determined safe.

To find a center close to you, go online to: DRC Locator or floridadisaster.org, or text DRC along with your zip code to 43362.

It is not necessary to visit a center to apply. Survivors can go online to disasterassistance.gov, use the FEMA mobile app or call 800-621-3362. The line is open every day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET. Help is available in most languages. If you use a relay service, such as video relay (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA the number for that service.
