Government shutdown why 'I'm in limbo': Rep.-elect Grijalva

Adelita Grijalva, a Democrat from Arizona who was recently elected to the House of Representatives, has been waiting for nearly seven weeks to be formally sworn in. She attributes the delay to House Speaker Mike Johnson’s hesitance to proceed with the ceremony.

Grijalva has described her status as being “in limbo” since September 23, as she explained on “Elizabeth Vargas Reports.”

Though the ongoing government shutdown doesn’t legally prevent Johnson, a Republican, from moving forward with the swearing-in, there is speculation that he is deliberately postponing it. The delay might be linked to Grijalva potentially casting the deciding vote on a House resolution that aims to disclose documents associated with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender.
