TAMPA, Fla. — The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $1.8 billion, making it the second-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history.

Since May 31, there have been 42 straight drawings without a big winner. This lottery streak has produced “101 winning tickets worth $1 million or more, and more than a thousand winning tickets worth $50,000 or more,” Powerball said.
