The New York Giants are making significant changes to their quarterback roster.

In a strategic move, Jameis Winston has been elevated to the role of backup quarterback, now positioned directly behind Jaxson Dart. This adjustment sees seasoned player Russell Wilson sliding to the third-string spot, as reported by NFL Network.

If Jaxson Dart is unable to play due to the concussion he sustained during last week’s defeat against the Bears, Winston will be stepping in as the starter this Sunday when the Giants face off against the Packers on their home turf.

This reshuffle marks a pivotal decision for Mike Kafka, who has recently stepped into the role of interim head coach following the dismissal of Brian Daboll on Monday.

Wilson’s performance this season has been underwhelming, with poor showings in two out of his three starts, leading to his replacement by Dart. Dart has brought a glimmer of hope to the team, even as they endure a challenging 2-8 season.

Wilson stepped in for Dart in Chicago and led the Giants on a field goal drive, but a late three-and-out opened the door for the Bears to rally for a 24-20 victory.

Winston has yet to play this season after signing a two-year, $8 million deal in the offseason.
