HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) — Shots were fired after a dispute at a Homewood day care Monday morning, according to the city’s police department.

Officers responded around 9:20 a.m. to a report of gunshots near ABC Daycare and Kindergarten. Through interviews, police learned a parent and her sister went to the facility to drop a child off.

The parent and her sister then allegedly engaged in a verbal dispute with an employee that turned physical. Employees stopped the fight. The parent, her sister and child left the daycare in a vehicle. They went down Carr Avenue toward Green Springs Highway.

Witnesses reported the daycare employee then followed them down Carr Avenue in her vehicle. She allegedly fired shots at their vehicle, and a bullet ended up in a tire. The shooting did not result in injuries.
