Illinois State Police are asking for the public’s help after a driver was killed on the Dan Ryan Monday.
CHICAGO (WLS) — A Chicago man has been identified as the driver killed after being hit by a “large object” and crashing on the outbound lanes of the Dan Ryan express lanes.
The crash happened on Monday at about 5:10 a.m. on southbound Interstate 94.
Chopper 7 was over the scene as police investigated a crash in the express lanes near 29th Street.
A gray GMC Yukon was seen with a large hole in the front windshield near the driver’s seat. The vehicle’s airbags also deployed after it appeared to have crashed into a concrete wall.

Illinois State Police said a large piece of metal came through the windshield before the crash.
Jackine L. Austin was identified as the driver by the medical examiner.
Police said he died at an area hospital.
The metal is believed to have come off a semi-trailer with an intermodal container, police said.
Anyone with information or video of the crash is asked to call state police at 847-608-3200.
