In a curious twist of events, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy found himself at the receiving end of a message from Jordon Hudson, the girlfriend of renowned football coach Bill Belichick. This unexpected interaction occurred after Portnoy publicly criticized the coach of the UNC Tar Heels following their 28-12 defeat against Wake Forest last Saturday.

Portnoy recounted the incident during the “Barstool Pick Em” podcast on Wednesday, sharing the details of the brief exchange with listeners. According to Portnoy, Hudson reached out to him via a direct message on Instagram.

“I got a thumbs down from her. It was just a simple DM,” Portnoy revealed, adding a touch of humor to the unexpected communication.

Co-host Dan “Big Cat” Katz, intrigued by the interaction, inquired further, asking Portnoy if he had initiated any conversation with Hudson.

Portnoy clarified the situation, stating, “I didn’t send her anything … She DM’d me a thumbs down.” The exchange, though succinct, added an interesting layer to the ongoing discussions surrounding college football and the personalities involved.

That’s when producer Hank Lockwood mentioned Portnoy’s tweet, which said Belichick should retire after the Tar Heels dropped to 4-6 on Saturday.

“I said something to that effect,” Portnoy said.

Portnoy couldn’t contain his frustration after the ugly loss at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium.

“Watching UNC is so frustrating,” he wrote. “It’s like an alien stole Belichick’s brain. Just horribly coached. Horrible decisions.”

He added, “Belichick needs to retire. This is disgusting. I’m not even sure he knows the score or where he is.”

The Tar Heels (4-6) play Duke (5-5) on Saturday.

Belichick didn’t let the loss stop him from supporting the 24-year-old Hudson at a cheerleading competition in Raleigh the next day.

The former NFL coach watched Hudson, a former NCAA champion cheerleader at Bridgewater State University, as she performed with the co-ed Code Black squad as part of the Cheer Extreme All Stars X Evolution exhibition, as seen in photos online.
