CHICAGO (WLS) — All outbound lanes reopened on Sunday, nearing the finish line of the three-year Kennedy Reconstruction Project, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
IDOT said all mainline lanes reopened on Sunday.
The grand news puts the project on pace to finish before the Thanksgiving deadline, IDOT said.
The reversible express lanes scheduled to resume “normal operations” by 5 a.m. on Monday.

Work will continue through late October on a few outbound ramps:
-Wilson Avenue exit ramp from the expressway is schedule to close, Monday night, Oct. 6, for two weeks.
-Westbound Ontario Street feeder ramp to access the northbound Kennedy (express and local lanes) is scheduled to close, Monday, Oct. 13, for approximately two weeks. A detour will be posted.
IDOT said motorists will be able to access the southbound Kennedy to the Dan Ryan Expressway (Interstate 90/94) from Ontario Street.
On Sunday, November 17, weather permitting, Ohio will be closed eastbound between the Kennedy and Orleans.
Starting Monday, November 18, Ontario will close westbound between Orleans and the Kennedy.
