Americans have been following the drama of a Chinese spy balloon traversing the country.
One of the overwhelming reactions from most Americans has been: why did the Biden Administration not stop it from getting into our airspace and why they didn’t take it out? The Biden excuse has been that they’re concerned about a debris field and who that might hurt. But it was over Billings, Montana. As Bill Maher joked, who was it going to hit, a cow? Even Montana governor Greg Gianforte said that it should have been taken down.

Now, it’s reportedly somewhere over North Carolina, on its way to the Atlantic.
Based on my sighting, I’m estimating the balloon is somewhere over Upstate SC, perhaps closer to the NC/SC border.

The reports are also that Joe Biden knew about it for a week before the public picked up on it, but couldn’t decide what to do and opted to keep it quiet to not throw off Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s trip to China. But then, they were outed by people spotting it in Billings. Wonderful, just more of their trademark “transparency.” Who knows all the data that the balloon may have stolen/acquired because of this failure of response from Joe Biden?
Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt and others are calling for an investigation into how this happened and why nothing was done about it. What kind of a message do they think that sends to the Chinese, at a time when China is mulling an invasion of Taiwan? If we don’t protect our own territory, that’s definitely sending the wrong message about how we would respond to such an invasion.
But apart from Biden’s own reaction — which was definitely the worst reaction — the winner from Twitter may just be this horrific tweet from once upon a time, alleged conservative, Bill Kristol. He’s gone down a deep rabbit hole in his Never Trumper quest to seemingly reject everything he ever used to claim he believed in. But this was epically bad, even for the misbegotten soul he is today. While most people were focused on the potential threat from China, this is what Kristol was focused on.
If the balloon had anti-black history messages stenciled on it, or if it were dropping anti-trans pamphlets down to earth, or if it were broadcasting denunciations of wokeness non-stop, MAGA would be pro-balloon. They’d be welcoming the balloon. They’d be worshipping the balloon.

I don’t know what happened to this guy, but at this point, whether it’s for money or just his own personal delusions, he’s just welded himself to making everything an attack on President Donald Trump and his supporters. It’s a sickness for some people, even when the man hasn’t been in office in two years, while Joe Biden lets a Chinese spy balloon float over our country.
To most conservatives, the concern is what China, a country that doesn’t wish us well, may be doing. To Bill, it’s still all about Trump. But if Trump had been in office, it likely would not have gotten this far; he’d have blown it out of the sky long ago.
