LAS VEGAS (KLAS) A competition headed to Las Vegas is putting a new spin on a mesmerizing occupation.
On Saturday, Fremont Street will transform into the ultimate battleground for the World Sign Spinning Championship, where 75 to 100 competitors from around the world will showcase their best tricks for a chance at $5,000 and, more importantly, the title of World Sign Spinning Champion. Day Day has been spinning since 2006.
“It’s really neat because on an average day, when we’re out spinning for a business, we’ll spin for close to 20,000 people, that’s about how many cars drive by in a day,” he said.
This competition isn’t just a one-day event; officials call it the Super Bowl of sign spinning. Competitors from across the country have been battling it out in regional tournaments for their chance to compete in Saturday’s sign showdown.
For anyone interested in becoming a sign spinner, The AArrow Sign Spinners are hiring. Anyone 16 years or older can apply at the AArow Sign Spinners website.
The championship kicks off Saturday at noon on Fremont Street.
