LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The estate of Michael Heslin, an actor who appeared on the Hallmark Channel, has filed a lawsuit claiming staff at a Las Vegas restaurant failed to respond when he collapsed and died.

On June 25, 2024, Heslin was dining at Javier’s restaurant at Aria Resort & Casino when he suddenly collapsed, the lawsuit said. According to a complaint filed in Clark County District Court, Heslin’s friends immediately called for help and moved tables out of the way to lay him on the floor, signaling the need for urgent medical attention.

The complaint alleges that, despite obvious signs that Heslin was experiencing a medical emergency, multiple ARIA and Javier’s employees “stood by” and failed to perform CPR, retrieve an automated external defibrillator (AED), or start an emergency response protocol.

At one point, a woman began CPR on Heslin in an attempt to save his life, but the lawsuit said an employee “forcefully interfered” and removed her from the scene.

The employees also threatened to have Heslin’s friends arrested or trespassed, demanded that they delete the video of the incident, and removed them from the restaurant, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit accuses the defendants of putting “their own interests ahead of his,” failing to secure evidence or witnesses that might have shed light on what happened.

Heslin died several days later on July 2, 2024, the lawsuit said.

His estate was seeking general and special damages exceeding $15,000, which is the standard threshold in Nevada civil cases.
