Cloudflare, a key player in internet infrastructure, is actively addressing a problem that led to widespread outages affecting ChatGPT, the social media platform X, and various other major online services.

On Tuesday, Cloudflare updated its status page to confirm the identification of an issue impacting several clients. Users observed prevalent 500 error messages, along with disruptions to the Cloudflare Dashboard and API functionality.

To tackle the problem, Cloudflare had to temporarily suspend specific services for users in the United Kingdom.

“We’ve implemented changes that have enabled Cloudflare Access and WARP to bounce back. Error rates for these services have now reverted to normal levels. We’ve also reinstated WARP access in London,” Cloudflare noted on its status page. “Efforts are ongoing to restore additional services.”

Services like Shopify, Dropbox, Coinbase, the online game League of Legends, Moody’s, and NJ Transit have also been affected. Moody’s website experienced a 500 error, prompting users to seek further details on Cloudflare’s site.

The San Francisco-based Cloudflare provides internet infrastructure that protects websites from online threats.

Last month Microsoft had to deploy a fix to address an outage of their Azure cloud portal that left users unable to access Office 365, Minecraft and other services. The tech company wrote on its Azure status page that a configuration change to its Azure infrastructure caused the outage.

And Amazon experienced a massive outage of its cloud computing service in October. The company resolved the issue, but the outage took down a broad range of online services, including social media, gaming, food delivery, streaming and financial platforms.
