Man Detained by SJSO for Alleged Threatening Images Targeting St. Johns County Commissioners

Authorities arrested Keyes on Thursday, October 9, charging him with corruption by threat of harm against a public servant and tampering with evidence. This arrest comes after police discovered alarming images depicting commissioners Ann Taylor and Krista Joseph with weapons piercing their heads, accompanied by graphic depictions of blood.

The arrest report highlights the severity of the situation, noting that the images posted to social media convey a clear threat of bodily harm to the public figures involved. These actions have prompted legal proceedings against Keyes, underscoring the seriousness of making threats against public officials.

According to his arrest report, Keyes is accused of posting images of commissioners Ann Taylor and Krista Joseph with weapons going through their heads and blood covering their faces.

“The electronic record posted on the social media account, when viewed by another person, makes a threat to commit bodily harm to another person, both of whom are public servants,” Keyes’ arrest report states.

The report says when deputies went to Keyes’ home on Oct. 9 to question him about the post, Keyes told them he would never harm anyone and that the post seemed silly.

“The defendant never openly admitted to posting the threat, but repeatedly stated that he did not mean any harm and assured me he wouldn’t post anything controversial,” Keyes’ arrest report states.

While deputies were walking up to Keyes’ home to execute a search warrant on his phone, the report says Keyes ran out the back of his home, but returned shortly after. Keyes’ phone was reportedly discovered hidden underneath a piece of wood in his backyard while executing the search warrant.

Court records show Keyes was arraigned on his charges on Oct. 10, where he was given a bond of $7,500.
