A similar occurrence happened on April 24 after personnel found a suspected unexploded device on the base’s flight line.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE: All NAS Jacksonville personnel who were evacuated after a suspected “unexploded ordnance” was found Wednesday morning can return to their buildings.

Base officials said the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team assessed the NAS Jax flight line where the objects were found and deemed it safe.

Officials said the objects were found in the ground while construction crews were repairing concrete slabs on the flight line. The objects have since been removed.

Base officials stressed that no explosion had taken place, and the area and several buildings near the site were cleared of all personnel as a precautionary measure.

Officials said that the incident seemed similar to a discovery made on April 24, when construction crews found a suspected unexploded device on the base’s flight line.
