Paris Jackson recently opened up about the severe consequences of her past drug use in a heartfelt video shared on social media. The 27-year-old, who is the daughter of the legendary Michael Jackson, candidly confessed to having a hole in her nose, a stark reminder of her struggles with addiction.

During a clip that a TikTok fan account reposted on Sunday, Paris explained her condition, stating, “I’ve never really talked about this, and it can be pretty noticeable at times. I have a very distinct whistle sound because of how I breathe through my nose, which is due to a perforated septum.”

To give her followers a clearer understanding, the singer used her cell phone flashlight to shine a light up her nostril, revealing a visible tunnel connecting her nostrils, which was captured in the video.

Paris also mentioned that the whistling sound, which sometimes accompanies her breathing, was audible in a previous video she had shared online, further illustrating the impact of her past choices.

She noted that the ‘whistle’ sound she sometimes makes when breathing through her nose could be heard on a previous video she had posted online.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, a perforated septum is a hole in the tissue in the middle of the nose that separates the nostrils, known as the septum.

While speaking in a clip that was reposted by a TikTok fan account on Sunday, the 27-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson admitted that she had a hole in the middle of her nose as the result of using drugs.

While speaking in a clip that was reposted by a TikTok fan account on Sunday, the 27-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson admitted that she had a hole in the middle of her nose as the result of using drugs.

The septum is lined with bone, cartilage and soft tissues, but it can be pierced or torn due to inhaling cocaine or other drugs.

However, the perforations can also be caused by excessive use of nasal steroid sprays, injuries, exposure to certain industrial chemicals, infections, autoimmune conditions and even tumors.

People suffering from a perforated septum may require antibiotics to prevent or fight infections and other products to keep the inside of their nostrils moist.

Doctors can have a prosthetic button fitted inside of the cavity, or surgery may be an option to repair it, but many people will live with the condition, which usually isn’t serious enough to require a major intervention.

Jackson, who has been open about her past drug use, hinted at how she got the hole in her nose — ‘it’s exactly where you think it’s from’ — and said she had been dealing with the condition for about seven years, going back to when she was around 20.

Toward the end of the video, Jackson looked into the camera and warned, ‘Don’t do drugs kids.’

But the performer wouldn’t allow herself to stick with a total anti-drug message.

‘Or do [use drugs], I mean, everyone is going to have the experience they need to have with life,’ she clarified. ‘I’m not going to tell anyone what to do.’

However, she added, ‘I don’t recommend it because it ruined my life.’

Jackson, who celebrated five years of sobriety earlier this year, added that she was hesitant to have surgery to fix the perforation because she was ‘almost six years sober’ and feared that the after-effects of the procedure could lead to a relapse.

‘You have to take pills when you do a surgery that gnarly,’ she shared. ‘And I don’t want to f*** with that.’

In January, Jackson celebrated five years without drugs and alcohol, and she admitted at the time that she had battled a heroin addiction before getting clean.

‘hi, i’m pk and i’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict,’ she wrote on social media.

‘today marks 5 years clean & sober from all drugs and alcohol. to say that i’m thankful would be a poor euphemism. gratitude hardly scratches the surface. it’s because i’m sober that i get to smile today,’ she continued.

‘i get to make music. i get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat. i get to feel heartbreak in all it’s glory. i get to grieve. i get to laugh. i get to dance. i get to trust. i feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm. i’ve found that life keeps happening regardless of whether i’m sober or not, but today i get to show up for it,’ Jackson added.

She had previously discussed her problems with drug abuse and depression, telling Rolling Stone in 2017 that several of her tattoos conceal both track marks from drug use and self-harm scars.

She revealed she had attempted suicide ‘multiple times’ and then went on to study at a therapeutic school in Utah, which she said was ‘great’ for her.

‘I’m a completely different person,’ she said. ‘I was crazy. I was actually crazy. I was going through a lot of, like, teen angst. And I was also dealing with my depression and my anxiety without any help,’ she added.

The Rolling Stone article noted at the time she was ‘sober and happier than she’s ever been’ and only caved into menthol cigarettes.

She also denied reports that she returned to rehab in 2018 after singer Demi Lovato was hospitalized for a drug overdose.

‘ummm no?? I haven’t gone to a clinic.. someone doesn’t have to almost die for me to know to be healthy, I’ve already had friends OD and die. that’s enough for me,’ she tweeted.

In 2019 she also weighed in on a report alleging she had gone into a treatment facility to address her emotional health, stating ‘the media is exaggerating per usual’.

‘Yes i’ve taken a break from work and social media and my phone because it can be too much sometimes, and everyone deserves a break, but i am happy and healthy and feeling better than ever!’ she said.

The moving video Jackson posted to highlight her sobriety journey began with footage of her before she turned her life around, with clips of her partying with friends and drinking what appeared to be a bottle of Jameson whiskey.

Throughout the partying clips, she included footage of her appearing emotional as she curled up into a ball.

Then, Jackson decided to go clean, as shots of her numerous sobriety chips appeared.

The clean and sober Jackson enjoyed various activities with her friends as she pursued her passion.

She could be seen singing on stage, going rock wall climbing, and hiking.

She also shared a kiss with her then-fiancé Justin Long as they explored a cave together.

The final moments of the video showed Paris looking calm and content as she hung out with loved ones and her dog.

At the end of the video, she added: ‘to those that helped me on this journey, if only for just the beginning, middle, or the whole time so far, you know who you are and i owe you my life. thank you. 5 years. THANK GOD.’

Jackson and Long ended their engagement and split in July of this year.
