JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Duval County jail inmate is now charged with murder in connection with a man’s 2024 shooting death, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.

Police identified 28-year-old Michael Byron as the suspect in a deadly shooting on Oct. 23, 2024, that left 28-year-old Shawndell Robinson dead.

Around 2 a.m. the night of the shooting, police responded to the intersection of Arlington Road and Mayer Drive, near Bruce Park, and found Robinson dead.

The Medical Examiner’s Officer later ruled his death a homicide.

Police said Byron was identified as the suspect after investigators reviewed evidence.
