“Severe Weather Alert: Flash Flooding Hits Various Areas in Kansas”

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Storms producing heavy rain have been moving through the Wichita area on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service says a flash flood warning is in effect for Sedgwick, Chase, Marion, Harvey, Lyon, Butler, Greenwood and Morris counties through 5 p.m., already 2 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2.5 inches are possible in the warned area.

The Wichita Fire Department says in the last several hours, they have received several submersion alarms. The department advises against driving on rain-covered roadways and reminds people to “turn around, don’t drown.”
